Professional furnace sizing

The right BTU matters more than a bigger furnace.

A furnace that is too large can cycle frequently and create uneven temperatures. A unit that is too small may struggle on the coldest GTA days. We use square footage as a starting point, then review the home and existing system before confirming capacity.

General starting point70K or 90K BTU

70K is commonly considered for many homes up to roughly 2,500 sq ft; 90K is often considered for larger homes. Construction, insulation and heat loss can change the correct choice.

Furnace questions

What homeowners want to know.

What is the difference between ML196E and ML296V?

ML196E uses single-stage heat with a constant-torque blower. ML296V uses two-stage heat and a variable-speed blower for steadier airflow, smaller temperature swings and upgraded comfort.

Why are all full model numbers not listed?

The full Lennox model number changes with BTU capacity, blower size, cabinet and current product revision. Your written quote identifies the exact complete model being supplied.

How do you determine the correct furnace size?

We consider square footage, insulation, windows, ductwork, layout and the existing equipment. A home assessment is more reliable than choosing a furnace from square footage alone.

What warranty applies?

Warranty coverage depends on the exact model, registration and current manufacturer terms. We confirm the applicable parts, heat-exchanger and labour coverage in your written quote.
